Welcome to Hudson Life
What is Functional Medicine?
Have you ever felt off but couldn’t put your finger on why?
Have you been told that you’re fine after conventional tests and bloodwork when you can tell that something’s up?
Functional medicine takes a deeper look with a more personalized and holistic approach to uncover the underlying, covert problems at the root of your symptoms and diagnoses.
In functional medicine, band-aids aren’t used as solutions. Instead, practitioners take the time to understand a patient as a whole person within a their larger environmental system. The finer details of their story, their cellular behavior, their genetic specificities, their environment and their habits inform the understanding of the signals they’re getting from different systems in their body. Specialty testing and 360° evaluations allow practitioners to connect the dots and ultimately find the source of symptoms, even when there are many in seemingly unrelated body systems.
The body is a delicate and complex web—issues with one system or organ infallibly impact others, and issues in two unrelated organs can be the result of a single root-cause. By treating the body as a whole, and symptoms from the root, functional medicine practitioners can administer informed healing plans that go beyond alleviating symptoms to reversing the problem and restoring balance.
How It Works
During your initial consultation your physician will evaluate your:
• Medical History
Then, your Hudson Life Care Team will administer blood work and comprehensive testing to get a clearer picture of your:
• Immune system
• Gut health
• Autoantibody count
• Nutrient deficiencies
• Potential blood toxicities
Based on these results, your physician will determine if you need more advanced diagnostics to better understand:
• Hormonal imbalances
• Genetic risks
Following diagnostic testing, your practitioner will develop a personalized plan to get you back to feeling your best. This may include:
• Nutritional supplements
• Detoxification support
• Repair digestive function and healthy gut flora
• Rebalancing hormones
• Replenish nutrient deficiencies
• Treat inflammation & enhance immune function
• Stress reduction therapies
• Advanced diagnostic testing
• Lifestyle & behavioral modification
Your physician will set up check-ins at regular intervals to learn about how your body is responding to prescribed supplements and lifestyle modifications.
During these check-ins you’ll be able to alter your original health goals (if needed) and moderate your treatment and supplement plans.
